Lego has done it again; the brick pieces manufacturer has made a very interesting advertisement design recently. The popular toy maker is working together with a German advertising agency Jung von Matt to create a simple, effective, and fun ad using some brick pieces. Lego cartoon characters, as they are called, are the representations of some popular and classic characters made of Lego bricks. However, each of the characters featured is very simple; it does not have any modified brick piece or specially made details to deliver perfect resemblance. Only some colorful classic bricks are needed to create the advertisement.

Lego is considered as one of the best toy makers in the world. The company has been dealing in this industry since 1932, now it sells its product in more than 130 countries throughout the world. It was Kirk Kristiansen family, who founded the company in the first place in Billund, Denmark; the family is still the owner after more or less 80 years operating. It is surprising that although the manufacturer is definitely producing toys, the lovers are not limited by age; children and adults are all big fans. Lego cartoon characters are actually perfect reflections of the purpose of Lego Group so far in this industry. As stated above, the characters featured by the advertisement are classic and very simple. There are no detail parts such as face features, leg and hand, hairs, fingers and basically, nothing. Nevertheless, the colors of the bricks are orderly arranged according to the characters’; perhaps, the only feature that looks similar is that one. For example, a character of Homer Simpson is presented by the bricks as yellow color on top, white in the middle, and blue in the bottom. Although details are completely missing, the colors are once again perfectly arranged in order. Other popular figures featured in Lego Cartoon Characters are Asterix and Obelix, Donald Duck, Ernie and Bert, Ninja Turtles, Lucky Luke, The Smurfs, and South Park.

Lego cartoon characters deliver a precise reflection of what the manufacturer wants for the customers. Of course, since Lego creates brick play sets, creativity is the first target; another thing coming along with that is imaginations. Educational value has been the company’s concerns since he first time. The difficulty level, manual instruction, size of play sets and everything else is manufactured and marketed attached with recommended age information. Plenty of popular movies, buildings, scenes, and themes have been included in many Lego’s projects; for example, Star Wars with Millennium Falcon, Darth Vader, Han Solo and most characters featured in the movie, another popular movie adapted by Lego is Pirates of the Caribbean, not to mention Sponge Bob, and DC’s super heroes; those would be to name a few.

Imagine, as the advertisement is called, is encouraging plenty of the fans to create their own favorite characters to join in the game. The advertisement agency has managed to come up with a minimalist idea yet it brings wide enough spaces to allow Logo lovers to expand their creativity using classic bricks only. After all, Lego cartoon characters are probably one of the best concepts in minimalist idea from LEGO.
